Idyllic hotel in a idyllic village in Southern Finland

We offer idyllic hotel accommodation in Salo, in the historic village of Mathildedal. Our hotel - Hotel Mathildedal - is a picturesque eight-room boutique hotel in the old ironworks area. The interior of the hotel rooms adapts to the spirit of village’s past with today's comforts. Unikulma's high-quality beds lull you into a gentle sleep, where your thoughts may go back to the 19th century. The wonderful rain shower in the bathroom makes the mind return to the calm surface of the neighboring Matilda strait. After a good night's sleep, it's wonderful to wake up to a new day to continue your visit.

The village of Mathildedal is very versatile in terms of a wide range of activities, shopping, and food. A hotel stay can easily be turned into an idyllic cultural holiday, a nature holiday or even an activity holiday. Or if you just want to stay and have a relaxing vacation, you can also do that in our quiet rooms.

The hotel reception is located in our café, Café Mathildedal, and is open according to its opening hours or by appointment. Our hotel is located a stone's throw from Teijo National Park, half an hour's drive from the centre of Salo, one hour drive from Turku and two hours from Helsinki Airport.

Sustainability

We are involved in Visit Finland's Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) responsibility program. We are constantly developing the responsibility of our accommodation services and we take into account related matters as best we can.

In the interior of our hotel, we have preferred antique furniture both for the sake of recycling and to bring out the history of the area. The beds in the rooms are high-quality Unikulma beds made in Finland. Although domestic products are not a guarantee of responsibility, we feel it is a kind of value choice.

In hotel cosmetics, we have switched to refillable soap, shower soap/shampoo and body cream bottles. This is how we aim to reduce the amount of plastic waste. The hotel cosmetics we use are also manufactured in Finland.

For those staying more than one night, we do intermediate cleaning and change towels at the guest's request. In this way, we aim to reduce the amount of laundry and water used for washing.

At breakfast, we aim to offer food produced nearby. All vegetables are at least produced in Finland, but during the summer we offer local vegetables. The eggs are also locally produced, and our bread is made from domestic flour.

For international visitors, we highlight the quality of tap water so that they prefer it over bottled water. We are involved in Visit Finland's Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) responsibility program.
